The Mighty Avokini: Kianda Swimwear

Ladies you’ve never seen a swimsuit like this before! One Clue: A V O C A D O S

Hey there!

I love avocados. Before the avocado desserts, before the avocado art, before the hype. They have always been one of my favorite things. Avocados are so good for you, with the unsaturated fat and all those good enzymes, it’s sure to make a good side to a hearty meal. It’s a staple in any Caribbean diet, in Haitian Culture we love having it with rice and meat dishes on the side or with warm bread. So imagine how happy I was to find a bathing suit that had a print of my favorite thing.

Kianda Swimwear is a company based in Portugal. It is Female owned and all of the swimwear is hand-stitched and made with love. On the Kianda Instagram page, beautiful women who have bought their products are featured wearing the Avokini and living their best lives. Buying an Avokini isn’t hard at all, all it takes is a message, trust, and a little bit of waiting. I contacted them through Facebook Messenger, their current platform for sales, and let them know I was interested. They ask you your size and email, for tracking purposes, and they send you a reference by PayPal to make the payment. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get it because I was hesitant about the price, but it’s a one of a kind swimsuit! I had to have it.

The Avokini is PERFECT  for any body type. Confidence is Key. With slits down the middle and sides, this suit is the definition of sexy, sleek and fun. It fits and hugs all of your curves, and you can feel the love that was put into making it.

An amazing thing about the Avokini is that the straps are C U S T O M I Z A B L E !!! You know how you have a suit and you think, man if only this was a halter, or oo I want straps now. With the Avokini, this is possible.  The straps connect in 4 pieces that you can move, tie or hang to your heart’s desire. I just went for the as-is two strap style.Comfort  and cute is my go-to and this suit does it all. I love the way it feels on my body, the material is so soft, which is important because my skin is the most sensitive.

Wearing the Avokini, I felt so confident and comfortable. You’re sure to be a showstopper at any pool/beach/summer event with these threads!

Head to the Kianda Swimwear Facebook page or Instagram for more and let me know what you think in the comments below! Until the next one of a kind find!

Gathering good vibes and sunny skies to send your way,

Hey there,

21. The year when your age in America finally opens doors that have been closed to you for so long. You can rent a car, book vacations, buy your own drinks (finally), change your driver’s license (we all know we don’t look the same as we did when we were 16) and you can order a glass of wine at dinner. 21. The beginning of a new era, an age to be reckoned with, the end of adolescence.

This year on July 5, 2016 I turned 21 years old. Since 19 I had made it my mission to be better, do more, give more, worry and complain less, to give myself room to grow, to learn from my mistakes and to give myself grace. So at 20 I went to France and I was free to do all of this and more; I had no more excuses. I made the most genuine friends in such a short amount of time and on my birthday they showed me a reflection of what I saw in them.

I woke up that morning refreshed and not feeling any different than I did the day before, but there was something in the air, and I couldn’t wait to figure it out. I went out to an appointment and then went window shopping in the shops downtown. In my Kente dress from Africa and my braids flowing, with no makeup on I truly felt like my best self. The sun was shining and nothing could take my joy. My dear friend then took me for a day of pampering- manicures and pedicures and gifted me with a candle for a day of self care; it couldn’t get better.

I went out for margaritas with my Haitian big sisters, and my newest friends whom I met in France took me out for dinner at this new Italian place in town called the Dolce Vita. The pasta is made in house and the bread is fresh out of the oven every hour; I was overwhelmed. (I really love bread.) The love and light that my friends showed me this day was a true showcase of friendship. I am the planner, the big picture taker, the dinner party hostess, the girl who always thinks out meticulous plans for the ones I love. This was the first time that I was on the receiving end of the spectrum. I cried several times. It’s rare that I find people who really know me the way that these guys do, and for such a short time. I was touched, humbled and I felt so loved.

I gave thanks for all of my friends and the impact they have had in my life over these few years that weekend and I hope they felt the love that I have for them in every moment. I can’t wait to see what year 21 will bring. I am ready to be vulnerable and let the Light in.

Good vibes and sunshine headed your way.

P.S. Should I start an advice section? You guys should email me/ comment below on topics you want to hear about! Can’t wait! Xoxo

Event Recap: World Natural Hair Health & Beauty Show With @CamilleRoseNaturals in Atlanta, GA

Not so long ago I was contacted with the opportunity to join the team of Camille Rose Naturals at the World Natural Hair Health & Beauty Show . I love all natural hair and all things that encompass it; Camille Rose Naturals is an amazing brand so I knew it would be a great time!

Hey there,

I know it’s been a long time coming, but forgive me!! Let’s dive in. As seen on The Curly Hair Magazine, London.

Not so long ago I was contacted with the opportunity to join the team of Camille Rose Naturals at the World Natural Hair Health & Beauty Show . I love all natural hair and all things that encompass it; Camille Rose Naturals is an amazing brand so I knew it would be a great time!

The World Natural Hair Healthy Lifestyle Event started out 20 years ago started out as an empowering, energizing annual celebration of natural hair. 2o years later it has developed into a weekend long outlet for fun, music, and natural hair for all. “This event has grown over the years from 25 exhibit booths and 200 attendees to 250 exhibit booths and over 30,000 attendees.” And from the looks of it, they don’t intend to stop! It now features a ton of brands that showcase their products for sale at prices as low as 40% off and workshops for hair treatment and product use and styling and to empower educate and celebrate natural hair for women, children and men alike! Major Sponsors include Mielle Organics and Camille Rose Naturals!

I attended the Show on Sunday the 23rd and arrived there to meet the Camille Rose team at 9 am sharp. All of the ladies working had amazing curl-popping hair, and I was in heaven. The show started at 11 but there was already a line and we could all feel the excitement. No one but vendors in the event at time meant no-lines and more samples so some of the ladies went out to shop, but I wanted to take it all in.

Peep Janelle Stephens on the right with her and in her hair- promoting products, naturally!

Camille Rose Naturals  was started by Janelle Stephens- a mother and master mixologist who comes up with all the bomb products. She is a vegan, natural hair loving superwoman. She had such a kind spirit- and so humble too.

Working hard, selling harder!

It was such a good feeling to be around people who loved natural hair and truly healthy products as much as I did! The great thing about events like these is that you can NETWORK! It’s all about whom you know, and if you come as you are, you will attract people who what to hear about you and what you’re passionate about. I met so many amazing women, all who loves natural hair, loves Camille Rose and most of all, who wanted to learn. I was able to speak about my passions and what made me spark, and people could tell.

I had to snag some products of my own!
I met this funny ray of sunshine too!

Thank you so much to Camille Rose Naturals, and Janelle Stephens (of course) for this amazing experience. Also big thanks and hugs to my new Curl-Friend Julianne Jones, a.k.a Julzwithaz on YouTube, for photographing the event!

Oh and by the way, yes. Yes we did sell out.

Sending all of you smiles and sunshine on this beautiful day to be alive.

Why I love Fabletics

Hey There!

First things first! Hello! It’s been a long time guys!! A lot has happened in my world, one of the biggest being that I am now writing for Curly Hair Magazine!!! As platform based in London, there are writers all over the world, and now I am one of them. This feels so good; now my work will be out there for everyone to see. What a feeling, what a life. Thank you for all the support of the blog and all my ventures. Stay tuned for more announcements. xoxo

Let’s talk athletic wear. Ever hear of Fabletics? From the moment Kate Hudson first launched Fabletics, I have been here. ⚡️Between leggings that always fit my long legs to the crop tops that hug my short torso just right, I know @fabletics is the one place I can always go to for the best quality and poppin collection of athletic (and leisure wear bc we all know these leggings will make more appearances at the mall!). It started off with a pair of leggings and a sport bra, and since then, Fabletics has been the only company that I  loyally buy athletic wear from. It’s a company that runs through subscription, so on the first of every month, the new prints and combinations are released and you have until the 5th of the month to either purchase something, or skip the month. The sets range from $49.95-$70 and I usually stick with the $50 option. Now, Don’t panic, because these clothes are excellent quality. I bought my first pair of leggings 5 years ago, and I still have it; every time I wash it it looks good as new!

My favorite thing about my Fabletics picks is that I feel good in them, and comfortable. This particular outfit is called “Guyana.” The top is “Kailey” and the leggings are the “Lisette” High- Waisted 7/8 Capri. My legs are long, and my torso is short, so I really like high waisted pants and the capris are just a plus. As you can see, I was out an about – not in the gym!! But the material felt great, I felt cool in the leggings even though this was a hot day. I really like the string-open back of the Kaile top the most. The top comes with a bra panel and removable cups so you can feel free with some coverage! Oh, and don’t worry, the back is adjustable.

Ahh, in a future life I’m a model commissioned for my long legs and full head of hair… Here’s to wishful thinking!  @katehudson if you’re ever looking for a high energy, natural curly haired girl who loves this brand, loves working out, and wants to bring a pop to your collections and shoots, you know where to find me🌻

Shop for all your comfortable athletic wear needs at Fabletics, ladies. When you sign up now, you get 2 pairs of The Best Leggings Ever for just $24!

This post is not affiliated, or sponsored by Fabletics in any way shape or form.

Wishing you good vibes and a tall glass of French wine on this beautiful day!

The Trouble with Comparison.

Hey there!

Summer months are important; the #glowup is so crucial to so many of us. You may find yourself wrapped up in YouTube videos on how to slay your hair poolside or how to contour effectively… you might just find yourself in a place where you start to think/say “Why can’t I do this like …” Stop. Right. There.

Someone once came to me in a state; they were worried about so many things and had many questions. “Why am I single? Why don’t I have a job? Why don’t I know what I’m doing with the rest of my life? So and So just got engaged, I’m 20! Why haven’t I found the one? What if I never find the one? Why is everything so hard? Why am I here, why do we even do it all? What’s the point?” So it got me thinking; Why is everyone always comparing themselves to other people, celebrities, friends? How do you be and become your best self and constantly compare your progress to others? You can’t. You won’t. Think of these 5 things next time you freak out:

  1. There is no rush. You have so much of your life to explore, and to simply, be. Your 20s will be the best years of your life; don’t waste them. I read somewhere that life should be about the verbs. So go hiking, swimming in a lagoon, swimming with dolphins, explore and live. Be selfish, take yourself out to a dine in restaurant- alone. Go on that trip you’ve always wanted to go on. Travel to the beach solo, put yourself out of your comfort zone, you meet so many more people this way, trust me.
  2. Do not put people on a pedestal who relate to you in no ways. One big mistake that someone can do is to look up to someone or idolize someone who has nothing in common with them. For instance, say you have a hair crush, and you watch all of their YouTube videos, study their hair regimen, but the products they use, and after 2 months of the same thing you see no changes in you hair. Your hair is not growing like theirs is, and now you’re sad. Ask yourself: why am I not seeing changes? Do we have the same hair type? Do we live in the same environment? What works for one person may not work for you. Shake it off and head back to the drawing board; you got this.
  3. There is a reason for everything. Every thought that passes through your beautiful mind, whether you act upon it or not, has a reason behind it. Do you sleep all day because you’re tired, or because you’re afraid? Are you really putting yourself in a position to be proud of yourself? Are you giving yourself grace? If not, why? Why does it hurt you to see someone doing better than you are? Are you truly confident, really confident? Do you live for you, or for everyone else? If not for you, than for who? IMG_0535
  4. Be your own fire. Use what inspires you as a guide and make it your own. Your favorite blogger may travel around the world, and you may want to do the same but you know your bank account is not having ittt (we’ve all been there). Put yourself in a position to make all of your “I wish could” thoughts into “When I…” spoken words of action. You are the only one with the power to change who you are, inspiration is simply fuel. Only YOU can be the one to strike the match and set that fire ablaze. It’s okay to be afraid, but go ahead, dot it. Light it up.
  5. It’s okay to acknowledge that you’re not where you want to be. This is the first step to bring you right where you were meant to be all along. The first step on any road to the top is acknowledging that there is a problem. All things worth doing are not always easy. The minute you get out of your comfort zone and put yourself in a position for change, real results, nothing can stop you. Those same people who you want to be like don’t have it all figured out, I assure you! They didn’t end up where they are overnight. So, what do you want to change about yourself? Do you want to read more? Exercise more? Save more? Be less careful? Be bolder? Be more?
  6. The only person that you have to compete with is the person you were yesterday. It’s all about perception. If you killed the day yesterday, wouldn’t you want to do it all over again tomorrow, but better and with more passion, with less complaints? That is who you should aim to be. The best version of yourself. Not the girl who has a different hair type and whose body is thin and fit. But you, flaws and all. This goes to say that you know yourself better than anyone else- guaranteed. Only you know what truly works for you, so listen to your body, your hair, and your heart & head combined. This is the most important thing to keep in mind. Challenge yourself. Leap to new heights. Give more. Be more. IMG_1710
  7. There is strength and something to be feared in the one who is completely themselves. Guys believe me! Remember that man/woman who you had your eye on, but whose attention got caught by the sassy woman /striking man across the room? That was no stroke of luck. You attract what you offer. When you walk into a room and all these thought are in your head, is your outfit right? Do you look like you could pull this all off with minimal effort? Are you comparing yourself to the woman 2 leagues from you who looks put together? All of these worries, these thoughts, are written on your face and people can tell. So why fret? The person you are is who you are, and your friends and significant others will be able to tell that this is the real you, truly you. There is nothing to fear. Let all of the stress and What-Ifs go.

We all have things we wish we could change, people we want to be, but in the end, we all just need to be ourselves and stop comparing ourselves to others. Comparison of yourself to others is a root of unhappiness, and no one wants to be without joy. The moment in which you decide to drop the self-doubt, the worries, the fear, is the moment that you become a true force, and you are just that. If you have any questions about who I am, what’s going on in my head as I write these pieces and share them with you guys, why I am who I am, don’t hesitate to reach out, and post a comment.  Send me an email, come through on Instagram, Twitter, I want to hear from you! Don’t forget to subscribe, let me know what you guys want to see, what you thought of the post, if you’d like me to write something or if you just want to say hi! I am still growing and changing. With each day comes a new lesson, I am learning each day. With a few weeks left until I am 21, I still have so much to learn.

Sending you light and good vibes on this beautiful day to be alive.

Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails Vitamin – Argan Oil Infused : Product Review

Hey there!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted; I’m trying to enjoy the summer! Sometimes you just have to take a break, you know? Anyway, I’m back with another product review! So far I’ve stuck to natural hair products, and I haven’t had any complaints save for minor ones. I just wanted to warn and assure you guys that I’m being completely honest in all of my reviews, so sometimes the review mighty not be great news, but it’s important to have good and bad experiences so you guys know ahead of time!! That being said, let’s get to it!

Recently, there has been a lot of hype in the Influenster world about the Hair Skin & Nails Vitamins from Nature’s Bounty, you might recognize the brand from pink packaging and pink gummies. My friend took them, she had no complaints. Nature’s Bounty has a pill version. This one is extra strength, so I figured, hey, let me try it, right? I purchased the 120 count for about $9 from Walmart.

Disclaimer: I already read reviews on this product and heard some shifty things but pushed it aside because everyone’s reaction to a product is going to be different, and I don’t have any known allergies.

The instructions say to take 3 vitamins per day, preferably with meals. Guys. I took the product for 5 days. My nails were growing within the first 2 days, and by day 5 my face started to flare up with acne. This is what I looked like on day 5:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Based on my pictures from previous posts, you guys know that my face is always pretty clear. This acne did not seem regular at all. I can only describe it as an allergic reaction; it was not fun. I definitely was not expecting a change this… sudden. I sprung into action and contacted the Nature’s Bounty Twitter page and sent them photos and let them know that I had a reaction to the product and did not have a good experience. They responded and asked me to call them the next day to speak with me directly, and provided me with a number. The next morning I made the call and the representative that answered was kind and she apologized for my experience. I gave her some information and within 5 minutes she emailed me a pre-paid postage label to return the product and would send me a refund. Yay for great customer service!!

What have I learned? Well. I probably will not be taking a risk like that ever again. It’s been 3 days since I stopped taking the vitamin and I’m still breaking out, though it’s gotten less severe. I’m flushing my system with water and continuing to eat clean in hopes that this will disappear before the middle of June. I will say that all this does not go to say that the product does no work. Some people have tried it and their skin actually cleared up! Which makes me think that there may be some reverse science here… just kidding but seriously why me!!

8 days after stopping the vitamins + tons of water.

Anyway guys, cheers to good customer service, learning lessons, and drinking more water (even if it is in  a desperate attempt to get rid of acne.) Acne is not a bad thing, and it doesn’t make you less beautiful; it just means you might have to fight your skin a little more and that makes you strong! There’s still a little bit of breakout but thanks be to a head of hair that cover impurities!

Wishing you good vibes and light always.

Taliah Waajid : Shea-Coco Review

Thanks to my subscription to Cocotique, in the April box I was able to try the amazing products from the Taliah Waajid Shea Coco line. I. Am. Hooked.

Hey there!

Thanks to my subscription to Cocotique, in the April box I was able to try the amazing products from the Taliah Waajid Shea Coco line. These products have: Naturally Inspired Ingredients | Intense Moisture | Infused Natural Oils | Herbal Extracts. Ends dry dull lifeless hair. Revitalizes your hair to define your Natural Curl Pattern giving you soft luscious curls with no build up. Mends Breakage and Strengthens. (from the website). Most times when I use a new product I hardly ever follow the directions, but this time guys, I promise I did!

6 Full Sized products for $20! A $55 Value.

shea-coco-detox-shampoo-moisture-madness-masque-51141-b11 When I first started out with the product line, my hair had a lot of product build up- I’m currently obsessed with braid-outs and leave in conditioner- so this was just what I needed. The detox shampoo is not what I expected at all. I didn’t fully read the label when I opened it, so when it came out black, I was a little taken aback. The shampoo has two really effective ingredients: tea tree and activated charcoal. Woo! Let me tell you I could feel it working! I pre-pooed my hair so it was in twists. I followed the instructions and concentrated on my scalp and man, did it work! Squeaky clean and feeling really healthy. I then followed with the Moisture Madness Masque; the directions specifically stated to go from the bottom of the hair shaft up to just before the root, which seemed odd at first but then I remembered that I just cleared all the product from my scalp and my pores were wide open- no need to clog them up with product again. I kept the mask on for an hour (suggested 15-25 minutes) yes I know I said I’d follow the directions but it was hair masque!! You know how us naturals get! So after an hour, I washed it out. My hair felt pretty amazing, I mean I don’t even know how to describe it; I’ve never had a product that made my hair feel this good. I feel like I say this a lot, but this is better than all the rest, I promise.

Step 3: Condition ($9.99)

TW condition

After the wash, I followed with the third step, the leave in conditioner. I always appreciate a good leave-in, especially when there is a good applicator in place: this spray bottle! I liked how the conditioner came out thick but not heavy. All of the products in this line have a subtle smell which makes good for mixing products and not becoming overwhelmed with the smell. The conditioner smoothed into my hair really well! I wish I could upload the video for you guys to see the whole process, but I couldn’t find a way to get it done 😦

Step 4: Monoi oil ($9.99)

TW monoi oil

As is known with the L.O.C method (Leave-in. Oil. Creme) I followed the leave-in with the oil provided in my cocotique box, the Monoi oil. This my first encounter with Monoi oil. It has the visual color of castor oil and consistency of olive oil. Benefits? From the website: “Taliah Waajid’s Monoi Oil is an all-natural serum that mends split ends and helps reverse damage to the hair. Monoi Oil also is great for adding shine and eliminating frizz.” It did help eliminate frizz for sure, and this product can be used for hot oil treatments as well along with as a skin moisturizer including feet and nails for a soft finish. Like castor oil! Again, the smell of this serum is very subtle and pleasing.

Step 5: Natural Hair Style Cream for 3C-4C Hair ($9.99)

TW style cream

Last step! My hair is 4B so I liked how it was tailored for those in my range, almost personalized. I went through with this product and used the praying hands method: putting a quarter sized amount in my palms, I rubbed them together and put my hair between my hands and smoothed the product down my hair shaft. After that I followed with a little more mononi oil for shine and extra coverage. I braided my hair (current braid-out obsession here) and let it dry over night! I took the braids down the next morning by putting some mononi oil in my hands and unbraiding, then fluffing with a pick.

Results: IMG_0333

Side note: I’m one who likes volume over definition; there was no grief lost here. Over the days my hair did get bigger, which is always my goal!

Overall: I was surprised how well each product did its job, but also how well it worked with my hair. It’s rare to find a company that has great product AND a smell that doesn’t overpower the senses. Taliah Waajid, you are a genious woman!! Also the World Natural Hair Show this past weekend was amazing, I loved every second! (Stay tuned for a blog post on my experience!) The Shea Cocoa line was a good choice for the April Cocotique box, and the products were all full sized, they had to put it in a bigger box!! I didn’t get to try the cowash or the curl cream for 3B-4B hair, but I’m going to give it a try soon and write a blog post on that as well, soon hopefully! If you guys want to take advantage of this $20 deal and try these products out too, click Cocotique to purchase this box! I have half a mind to purchase another one myself, this offer is too good to pass up!!

Thank you guys for reading! Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog, let me know what you guys want to see, what you thought of the post, or if you just want to say hi! Follow me on social media, all of those links are on the Contact Page.  Wishing all of my college readers a happy end of the semester and sending all of you good vibes always. xoxo

Product Review: Venus Swirl Razor #MovesLikeNoOther

Ladies are you looking for a razor this summer season? Look no further! Gillette Venus Swirl has the #MovesLikeNoOther

Hey there!

I’m back again with another product review but this time it’s got nothing to do with the hairs on my head! Ladies. I’m talking about Shaving.

As an Influenster, I get the opportunity to try new products, and in a recent Vox Box I received the new Venus Swirl Razor by @Gillette.

I received this product free or complimentary for testing purposes, but all opinions are my own.

First things first, I’m developing a new love for purple, so plus on the color. The swirl metal ball that separates the blades from the handle is pretty groovy. When I was shaving my legs- and let me go ahead and say my legs are pretty long, so you can imagine the struggle when I want to shave for the warm seasons! The shave with this razor really has the #MovesLikeNoOther. Gillette is my number one brand of choice when I’m choosing a razor, but the Venus Swirl was cutting edge. Guys, when I say that I mean it in the literal sense… This blade was sharp!! For me, this is important because I like to get a close shave the first time. I am not a fan of having to shave one day and then going back over it two days later. This shave lasted me 5 days!! When it’s summertime and I constantly oil my skin to keep it moisturized sun the hair was going to grow back faster- take my word for it. So this razor definitely surpassed my expectations. I really like how the razor had great mobility. It was so easy to go from my shin, to the backs of my knees (the hardest part!) and to my thigh without getting cut. Granted… I did cut myself once but that was only because I was dancing to a song and the blade slipped! (Has anyone heard H.E.R. volume 2?! Say It Again is my jaammm) LOL! We all know that feeling.

So. Would I recommend this raiser? Yes. It’s just so agile, it provides an easy shave, a close shave,  and I know from this point on that The Venus Swirl is a razor that I can count on. Thank you again to Influenster! And thank you to Gillette as well! I’m looking forward to new things- from the both of you!

Sitting poolside on the 5th day of my shave with the Venus Swirl!

Don’t forget to subscribe, and comment! Let me know what you guys want to see, what you thought of the post, or if you just want to say hi! I know this is unlike my usual content; I’m trying to branch out, and shaving is important to me, choosing your razor should be too. I Got a Plant!!

Hey there!

Welcome back to my little sunshine blog!  If this is the first time you’re seeing my blog, take a look around! I’m trying to provide more content that’s more than reviews and natural hair products, so let me know if you guys like this!

It’s final exam season at my University and there is stress all around. People are staying up until 5 am with classes at 9 am, students are grabbing fast food in an attempt to combat hunger and most of all, we are spending so much time inside and under artificial light. There came to a point in time this week where I asked myself, “when was the last time you sat outside, smelled the flowers?” I couldn’t answer the question. So one day as I was walking to the bus (woohoo for public transportation) I saw there was a little plant sale going on in the plaza. I had 5 minutes until the bus pulled up and all I could think was that I had to have a plant! Three minutes and $5 later, I was the owner of this little beauty! I don’t even know what the plant is called, there are 4 types in the pot, but it brought so much light and life into my apartment and life was so good in that moment.

This little guy is going to live on my window sill for the time being. Maybe I’ll buy some more so he doesn’t get lonely! Nature and being centered is so important to me so I love the idea of plants surrounding me and attracting light into different spaces.

Don’t forget to subscribe, let me know what you guys want to see, what you thought of the post, or if you just want to say hi! Follow me on social media, all of those are on the Contact Page.  Wishing all of you a happy end of the semester and sending you good vibes always and a spirit of calm in this stressful time!

This smells pretty regular so you can hide it in your leave-in conditioner like I do! Jamaican Mango & Lime is a great brand for the little things you want to fix.

LUSETA Argan Oil Hair Moisturizer

  • My first encounter with LUSETA! This mask is good to bring back moisture in your hair. Just apply it after a shampoo/co-wash and leave in for 5 minutes and rinse!

  • My first encounter with Naturally Everything.  I don’t know much about this brand but I feel some research coming! Another great leave in! This is a sample product so I’m going to use it wisely. • Black Radiance is a staple in my makeup bag. I have their bb cream and use it as a touch up quick fix! I really like the colors here, not so much the lighter ones and the yellow, but I’m digging the earthy tones and that green! This is such a great bonus in the box, I love it!

First impressions: It’s so cool that COCOTIQUE put all these products in here, and knowing that it was meant for December just shows how thought out this was. the cleanser and the moisturizer is a definite YAS! I’m really into the natural product scene and want that to translate to my skin care as well so this is a great start! I can’t wait to try out all the products and put them to use!

Drugstore Dream : Tresemme Keratin Smooth Review

Hi there everyone!

If you don’t know already, I am an Influenster, which means that I do product reviews for different things ranging from clothing brands, beauty products, and food. As I release reviews, the company matches me up with boxes for products that give me a new opportunity to try new products. All thoughts are my own.

This month, I got the opportunity to try the new Tresemmé Keratin Smooth shampoo and conditioner for free. This particular box was sponsored by Tresemmé, Kroger (a supermarket based in the south USA), and Influenster. Both the shampoo and conditioner were full-sized, and came in this fun box, I love how they always put wrapping paper around the products! Makes it feel like a gift! Here’s what the packaging looked like:

If you guys like what you hear about the products, I’ve inserted hyperlinks all though the post so you can buy it and try it for yourself!

So, the Keratin Smooth line is a 5 benefit in 1 system deal: anti frizz, perfectly detangles (according to the bottle), silky shine, soft feel, and tames fly aways. Now as a natural curly girl, you guys know I’m always looking for any product that makes wash day easier. Before I got on the natural product wave, I did use Tresmmé during wash days to shampoo, but had since eliminated it because the sulfate in it was drying out my hair. After that I stayed way clear of Tresemmé, but decided to give it another shot. Because the bottles say that they smooth hair and I had heard horror a few horror stories before of curly girls getting keratin protein treatments and coming out with straight hair, I was apprehensive, but these products proved me wrong.

IMG_0320Shampoo: The shampoo was definitely shocking. This was the first time I had used a shampoo that wasn’t from a natural brand and liked what I saw. My hair was loving the feeling of that keratin protein treatment, it was shiny after one wash and seemed like it had a healthy bounce to it. My hair seemed manageable.  You can find this shampoo at any drugstore, Kroger or Walmart for less than $5!

Conditioner: Wow. I mean, just when I thought that the shampoo was a surprise, in comes the conditioner making magic! It definitely left my hair feeling soft and smooth, and the shine was clear to see. So remember when I said that it “perfectly detangles?” Guys, this claim was no joke. I mean, how is it that my hair retained curl-tension (coining thattt) and my fingers ran through my hair as easy as it did? The researchers at Tresemmé need to let me know how they did it, because YAS I am here for it! Honestly and truly, if you’re balling on a budget and just need something quick to do a co-wash head to a drugstore, Kroger or your nearest Walmart and pick up this conditioner, especially if it’s less than $5!!

Final Thoughts: I’m glad that Tresemmé came out with a shampoo and conditioner that allowed me to immediately see the results that it claims after the first wash and not a week or two later! HeeHee you guys know what I mean! A big big thank you again to Influenster for choosing me for this box, and I am really looking forward to the next review!

Heavenly Smells- Radha Beauty Product Review

Hi there!

When I returned from France I started to look for different elements in my home world that I found similar to my French experience and that was difficult. One aspect that I really missed from France was the smells. I saw flowers everywhere, lavender hanging on balconies, most women wore floral clean scents and the air always had a pleasant mystery about it. So. When I finally got back to the States I set out to find that same mystery; I perused social media and read tons of different blog posts, and then one day on Instagram, I came across Radha Beauty.

From the Site:

Radha Beauty is an innovative and luxurious skincare line that is committed to enhancing the natural beauty of every person on Mother Earth.

To the credit of the exceptional quality of our products, we quickly climbed the charts to become the Number One Selling Beauty and Essential Oil Brand on

Today, we are the leading authority in oils, carrier oils and essentials. Since our launch in 2014, we have gone on to Formulate different beauty collections to add to our catalog of stellar products.

  • Radha Beauty leads the industry in providing the highest-quality essential oils, carrier oils and oil blends on the market.
  • The Radha Beauty Skincare line is a mixture of active ingredients such as Vitamin C Serum, Retinol, and Hyaluronic Acid, with a natural botanical base of our purest oils.
  • Our newest line, Radha Organics, is an All Natural and Organic skincare line made only of essential oils, plant extracts and fruit and plant butters. This collection has no preservatives and is only made of ingredients that you can pronounce.
  • We also offer a selection of essential oil diffusers, bath bombs, and mud masks, among other products that are all aligned with our healthy lifestyle approach.

I purchased one of the most popular items, The 16 Piece Essential Oil Set. Luck smiled upon me again when I received 2 packages of the oil set for the price of one!! Okay, it was a mistake and they sent me twice as much as I ordered. When I realized the error, I emailed Radha Beauty support to let them know and to get information on how to return it, but they were so glad that I came forward, they let me keep the second oil kit!  As this rate, I’ll never run out. The support team was efficient and really cared about my experience; they even expressed their interest in hearing about how I like the products, and they seemed really genuine.

What’s inside/ First Impressions

The presentation is wonderful, and I could tell that Radha took her time to make it really special. If you look at the top of the cover, all of the essential oils come with a description and suggestion for use. This is really helpful because of anyone asks you what an oil is for, you can tell them facts like a pro. This is another well thought out detail that is not only effective but adds to the aesthetic of the packaging. The blue bottles are cute, and they have a use as well. To avoid deterioration and protect the aromatic and therapeutic properties of the essential oils, they are stored in amber or cobalt blue bottles. Dark glass such as amber or cobalt helps to keep out deteriorating sunlight. It is best not to store essential oils in clear glass bottles. (Thanks, Google).

When at home:

In my Rainmate Air Purifier, I add warm water and then 3-4 drops of my essential oil of choice and wait for the smell of the oil to permeate the room, which only takes about 10 seconds! You can buy any air purifier or diffuser and it’ll do the same job. My mom won the purifier in a raffle and gifted it to me, so that was a blessing.

My Favorite Oils/Uses

Geranium: This one might just be my number one go-to. I’m not usually one to like the smell of flowers, but the great thing about essential oils is that it captures the true essence of the flower. “The Geranium essential oil is steam distilled directly from the flower. It is known to help calm nerves and naturally relieves stress and depression. It is also known to alleviate the symptoms of menopause.” I like using this scent after a long day, or when I’m curling up to read a book.

Clary Sage: This has to be the most surprising of them all! The clary sage smells like a tea house, really subtle, but you can tell it has healing effects. “Clary Sage oil can boost self-esteem, confidence, hope and mental strength, thereby efficiently fighting depression.” Doesn’t that just sound like the medicine of the free world? It gets better. For all of it’s healing properties, the description doesn’t tell you one really MAJOR power that Clary Sage has: it cures menstrual cramps. Now I know what you’re thinking, okay, haha how can an oil cure excruciating pain? I went to the Radha website and pulled up a live chat session with a representative and asked what clary sage does, besides what’s on the box of course, and they let me know that if you take a few drops and spread them on the area right above your uterus, the oil should start working pretty quickly. So I tried it! Ladies, I am not kidding when I say it works w o n d e r s. I could feel the tingling warm sensation that the oil caused and my cramps were gone in about 5 minutes. 10/10 would recommend, especially if you’re trying to shy away from pills as an option to cure menstrual cramps.

Frankincense: Doesn’t that make you think of the bible when women would bathe in frankincense and mirth? This oil is mostly used when I want to clear my head and just breathe. Meditation, listening to music, pair this oil to your routine and all will be calm. “It is used to help relieve chronic stress and anxiety, reducing pain and inflammation, boosting immunity and even aids in fighting cancer.” I haven’t used it for chronic pain, but maybe to same rules as the clary sage apply here: put a few drops in the area of the pain and watch the magic happen.

Rosemary: Used only as an herb in my kitchen I didn’t even know that this was a thing. I’m finding that I really like it simply for the smell! “When inhaled, it can boost mental energy and it is also known to clear the respiratory tract.” As I write this post, this is my oil of choice that’s spinning in my diffuser. I have to embarrassingly admit that I’m taking deep breaths like a fiend; I can’t get enough of this smell!!

Lavender: For obvious reasons, this oil is on the list. I use the lavender oil in so many things, homemade body oil, in my hair, as a perfume, on my pillow to make sleeping easier, and of course in my purifier to make my room smell amazing and feel calm. “This oil is widely used for it’s calming and relaxing qualities and is perfect for aromatherapy, relaxation & massages.” This is a favorite among all of my friends when they come over for tea or just to hang out.

Tea Tree: Why wouldn’t this one be on the list? As a curly girl, I know the importance of tea tree in hair products, and I also know the danger. While this oil smells great and makes your hair thrive, too much of it will dry the skin out- and that means the scalp. I put this in my homemade body oil and I know immediately when I put too much because my skin instantly dries out! Still completely in love with it anyway. “Great for aromatherapy and home remedy use.” Tea Tree oil is great to put into your pre-poo or a deep conditioner.

Final Thoughts

It’s nice to know that there are still companies out there that are well rounded. Radha Beauty offers amazing products and a staff that match the quality of their products. I’m so pleased with my experience with Radha Beauty and I intend to buy more of their products which range from lotions to diffusers and cleansers- all natural. For now, I’ll just enjoy the many heavenly smells that my oil kit- or kits- has to offer.

Make sure you like and follow the blog if you enjoyed this post! Comment and let me know if you want to see any more product reviews, if you want to hear more about one of the essential oils you see in the kit or if you simply want to say hello! Wishing you ever calm and sunshine through and through.
