Neutrogena Naturals | Product Review

Hey there guys!! Ah! I love skincare, facial and body skincare, I love it all! I wouldn’t call myself a product junkie, but I would say that I am willing and open to trying almost anything new as long as i is good for the body, natural and if I’ve done research on it. This is about a skin care line that made me reconsider becoming a customer again.

I entered a giveaway on @curlsandcouture‘s Instagram and won a couple of products from the new Neutrogena Naturals Line. I have very sensitive skin – very much acne prone since ceasing my use of a very powerful acne regimen- and I tried almost everything Neutrogena. I tried the sensitive sin line, the acne clear line, I tried the Deep Clean Scrub, everything. And I had given up, but when I saw the giveaway on Instagram, I decided to do some research.

From the website: “Every Neutrogena® Naturals product is made according to our core values, with the same standards of efficacy and excellence as everyNeutrogena® product you know and trust — to create pure skincare from nature. With natural plant-derived ingredients, the average of our line is 94% natural. Products Not Tested on Animals. Up to 50% post-consumer recycled content in our bottles. Our folding cartons are made from 100% recycled paper with up to 60% post-consumer recycled content. Partnered with The Nature Conservancy to protect natural sources of clean water for people, plants and animals.”

The brand uses 5 effective ingredients to cleanse and purify the skin: Tara Seed: It works to build moisture levels with the skin, rich in Vitamins B, C, and complex sugars. Willowbark: this contains a “beta hydroxy acid,” this ingredient is known for its ability to detoxify. Inca Inchi Oil: full of omega fatty acids. Yerba Mate Leaf Extract: a powerful anti‐oxidant that contains bio-nutrients and Vitamins B, C and E. Lemon Peel: this brightens and visibly tones the skin.

Courtney’s giveaway included 5 products: Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Wipes, Purifying Facial Cleanser, Purifying Cream Cleanser, Purifying Pore Scrub, and the Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer. I didn’t know where to start, but I got it down to a little post-make-up routine.

My Favorite products in the line are the Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Wipes, the Purifying Cream Cleanser, Purifying Pore Scrub, and the Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer. The products are gentle but effective and I am really happy with how my skin has maintained since using it (about 4 months). I’ve had a little trouble with the pump of the  Purifying Facial Cleanser, it won’t open for some reason, but the Neutrogena team assured me that they’ll get another one to me soon! These products have been lasting me so long – I travel with them in small quantities, and I am always finding new combinations for them. I am for sure a Neutrogena customer again!

xoxo, Sincerely,

Hourglass Cosmetics | Arch Brow : Product Review

For the days when your brows need that little extra push and pop, come thru #ArchBrow!  The product was sent to me complimentary for testing, but all thoughts are my own.

I’m not one to mess with my brows. Never have I ever gone to get them waxed or threaded, but maybe when I’m bored I’ll pluck a stray hair here and there. I let them live! But when @influenster sent me the new @hourglasscosmetics Arch Brow Shaping Gel, I had to see what the hype was about. There are 6 shades and one clear in the Arch brow line ranging from Blonde to Dark Brunette, which matches with the blackest of black hair. Because I’m not the type to particularly care for the storng statement brow, and I was unsure of which color would be best for me, I opted for the clear gel.

First impression? — I posted a little video on my YouTube channel here. This was my first time using the product. The brush construction was unexpected. It’s a dual brush – 2 sided with 2 different bristle length. One is for shaping and the other for product application. As the gel that I received was clear, the difference is very subtle, but after the first brush stroke, my eyebrow hairs are definitely more clean looking than before. The brush was easy to use and it made me feel good knowing that this product was vegan, especially as one who is on a natural journey herself.

Did it help me achieve my ideal brow look? — Well, to be honest, I walked into this with no expectations whatsoever, so yes, yes it did. I suppose if I was to opt for a brow gel that was colored I might have seen more of an effect, but I was satisfied. In the video, I only apply a light brush of bronzer, no heavy makeup.
These little wonders can be found @sephora 🌺

I hope your weekend is fruitful and bright and filled with productivity, whether that means crossing tasks off your to-do list, or to tackle the mission of sleeping in order to do so. Sending hugs through the internet waves!

Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails Vitamin – Argan Oil Infused : Product Review

Hey there!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted; I’m trying to enjoy the summer! Sometimes you just have to take a break, you know? Anyway, I’m back with another product review! So far I’ve stuck to natural hair products, and I haven’t had any complaints save for minor ones. I just wanted to warn and assure you guys that I’m being completely honest in all of my reviews, so sometimes the review mighty not be great news, but it’s important to have good and bad experiences so you guys know ahead of time!! That being said, let’s get to it!

Recently, there has been a lot of hype in the Influenster world about the Hair Skin & Nails Vitamins from Nature’s Bounty, you might recognize the brand from pink packaging and pink gummies. My friend took them, she had no complaints. Nature’s Bounty has a pill version. This one is extra strength, so I figured, hey, let me try it, right? I purchased the 120 count for about $9 from Walmart.

Disclaimer: I already read reviews on this product and heard some shifty things but pushed it aside because everyone’s reaction to a product is going to be different, and I don’t have any known allergies.

The instructions say to take 3 vitamins per day, preferably with meals. Guys. I took the product for 5 days. My nails were growing within the first 2 days, and by day 5 my face started to flare up with acne. This is what I looked like on day 5:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Based on my pictures from previous posts, you guys know that my face is always pretty clear. This acne did not seem regular at all. I can only describe it as an allergic reaction; it was not fun. I definitely was not expecting a change this… sudden. I sprung into action and contacted the Nature’s Bounty Twitter page and sent them photos and let them know that I had a reaction to the product and did not have a good experience. They responded and asked me to call them the next day to speak with me directly, and provided me with a number. The next morning I made the call and the representative that answered was kind and she apologized for my experience. I gave her some information and within 5 minutes she emailed me a pre-paid postage label to return the product and would send me a refund. Yay for great customer service!!

What have I learned? Well. I probably will not be taking a risk like that ever again. It’s been 3 days since I stopped taking the vitamin and I’m still breaking out, though it’s gotten less severe. I’m flushing my system with water and continuing to eat clean in hopes that this will disappear before the middle of June. I will say that all this does not go to say that the product does no work. Some people have tried it and their skin actually cleared up! Which makes me think that there may be some reverse science here… just kidding but seriously why me!!

8 days after stopping the vitamins + tons of water.

Anyway guys, cheers to good customer service, learning lessons, and drinking more water (even if it is in  a desperate attempt to get rid of acne.) Acne is not a bad thing, and it doesn’t make you less beautiful; it just means you might have to fight your skin a little more and that makes you strong! There’s still a little bit of breakout but thanks be to a head of hair that cover impurities!

Wishing you good vibes and light always.

Taliah Waajid : Shea-Coco Review

Thanks to my subscription to Cocotique, in the April box I was able to try the amazing products from the Taliah Waajid Shea Coco line. I. Am. Hooked.

Hey there!

Thanks to my subscription to Cocotique, in the April box I was able to try the amazing products from the Taliah Waajid Shea Coco line. These products have: Naturally Inspired Ingredients | Intense Moisture | Infused Natural Oils | Herbal Extracts. Ends dry dull lifeless hair. Revitalizes your hair to define your Natural Curl Pattern giving you soft luscious curls with no build up. Mends Breakage and Strengthens. (from the website). Most times when I use a new product I hardly ever follow the directions, but this time guys, I promise I did!

6 Full Sized products for $20! A $55 Value.

shea-coco-detox-shampoo-moisture-madness-masque-51141-b11 When I first started out with the product line, my hair had a lot of product build up- I’m currently obsessed with braid-outs and leave in conditioner- so this was just what I needed. The detox shampoo is not what I expected at all. I didn’t fully read the label when I opened it, so when it came out black, I was a little taken aback. The shampoo has two really effective ingredients: tea tree and activated charcoal. Woo! Let me tell you I could feel it working! I pre-pooed my hair so it was in twists. I followed the instructions and concentrated on my scalp and man, did it work! Squeaky clean and feeling really healthy. I then followed with the Moisture Madness Masque; the directions specifically stated to go from the bottom of the hair shaft up to just before the root, which seemed odd at first but then I remembered that I just cleared all the product from my scalp and my pores were wide open- no need to clog them up with product again. I kept the mask on for an hour (suggested 15-25 minutes) yes I know I said I’d follow the directions but it was hair masque!! You know how us naturals get! So after an hour, I washed it out. My hair felt pretty amazing, I mean I don’t even know how to describe it; I’ve never had a product that made my hair feel this good. I feel like I say this a lot, but this is better than all the rest, I promise.

Step 3: Condition ($9.99)

TW condition

After the wash, I followed with the third step, the leave in conditioner. I always appreciate a good leave-in, especially when there is a good applicator in place: this spray bottle! I liked how the conditioner came out thick but not heavy. All of the products in this line have a subtle smell which makes good for mixing products and not becoming overwhelmed with the smell. The conditioner smoothed into my hair really well! I wish I could upload the video for you guys to see the whole process, but I couldn’t find a way to get it done 😦

Step 4: Monoi oil ($9.99)

TW monoi oil

As is known with the L.O.C method (Leave-in. Oil. Creme) I followed the leave-in with the oil provided in my cocotique box, the Monoi oil. This my first encounter with Monoi oil. It has the visual color of castor oil and consistency of olive oil. Benefits? From the website: “Taliah Waajid’s Monoi Oil is an all-natural serum that mends split ends and helps reverse damage to the hair. Monoi Oil also is great for adding shine and eliminating frizz.” It did help eliminate frizz for sure, and this product can be used for hot oil treatments as well along with as a skin moisturizer including feet and nails for a soft finish. Like castor oil! Again, the smell of this serum is very subtle and pleasing.

Step 5: Natural Hair Style Cream for 3C-4C Hair ($9.99)

TW style cream

Last step! My hair is 4B so I liked how it was tailored for those in my range, almost personalized. I went through with this product and used the praying hands method: putting a quarter sized amount in my palms, I rubbed them together and put my hair between my hands and smoothed the product down my hair shaft. After that I followed with a little more mononi oil for shine and extra coverage. I braided my hair (current braid-out obsession here) and let it dry over night! I took the braids down the next morning by putting some mononi oil in my hands and unbraiding, then fluffing with a pick.

Results: IMG_0333

Side note: I’m one who likes volume over definition; there was no grief lost here. Over the days my hair did get bigger, which is always my goal!

Overall: I was surprised how well each product did its job, but also how well it worked with my hair. It’s rare to find a company that has great product AND a smell that doesn’t overpower the senses. Taliah Waajid, you are a genious woman!! Also the World Natural Hair Show this past weekend was amazing, I loved every second! (Stay tuned for a blog post on my experience!) The Shea Cocoa line was a good choice for the April Cocotique box, and the products were all full sized, they had to put it in a bigger box!! I didn’t get to try the cowash or the curl cream for 3B-4B hair, but I’m going to give it a try soon and write a blog post on that as well, soon hopefully! If you guys want to take advantage of this $20 deal and try these products out too, click Cocotique to purchase this box! I have half a mind to purchase another one myself, this offer is too good to pass up!!

Thank you guys for reading! Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog, let me know what you guys want to see, what you thought of the post, or if you just want to say hi! Drugstore Dream : Tresemme Keratin Smooth Review

Hi there everyone!

If you don’t know already, I am an Influenster, which means that I do product reviews for different things ranging from clothing brands, beauty products, and food. As I release reviews, the company matches me up with boxes for products that give me a new opportunity to try new products. All thoughts are my own.

This month, I got the opportunity to try the new Tresemmé Keratin Smooth shampoo and conditioner for free. This particular box was sponsored by Tresemmé, Kroger (a supermarket based in the south USA), and Influenster. Both the shampoo and conditioner were full-sized, and came in this fun box, I love how they always put wrapping paper around the products! Makes it feel like a gift! Here’s what the packaging looked like:

IMG_0314                               IMG_0317

If you guys like what you hear about the products, I’ve inserted hyperlinks all though the post so you can buy it and try it for yourself!

So, the Keratin Smooth line is a 5 benefit in 1 system deal: anti frizz, perfectly detangles (according to the bottle), silky shine, soft feel, and tames fly aways. Now as a natural curly girl, you guys know I’m always looking for any product that makes wash day easier. Before I got on the natural product wave, I did use Tresmmé during wash days to shampoo, but had since eliminated it because the sulfate in it was drying out my hair. After that I stayed way clear of Tresemmé, but decided to give it another shot. Because the bottles say that they smooth hair and I had heard horror a few horror stories before of curly girls getting keratin protein treatments and coming out with straight hair, I was apprehensive, but these products proved me wrong.

IMG_0320Shampoo: The shampoo was definitely shocking. This was the first time I had used a shampoo that wasn’t from a natural brand and liked what I saw. My hair was loving the feeling of that keratin protein treatment, it was shiny after one wash and seemed like it had a healthy bounce to it. My hair seemed manageable.  You can find this shampoo at any drugstore, Kroger or Walmart for less than $5!

Conditioner: Wow. I mean, just when I thought that the shampoo was a surprise, in comes the conditioner making magic! It definitely left my hair feeling soft and smooth, and the shine was clear to see. So remember when I said that it “perfectly detangles?” Guys, this claim was no joke. I mean, how is it that my hair retained curl-tension (coining thattt) and my fingers ran through my hair as easy as it did? The researchers at Tresemmé need to let me know how they did it, because YAS I am here for it! Honestly and truly, if you’re balling on a budget and just need something quick to do a co-wash head to a drugstore, Kroger or your nearest Walmart and pick up this conditioner, especially if it’s less than $5!!

Final Thoughts: I’m glad that Tresemmé came out with a shampoo and conditioner that allowed me to immediately see the results that it claims after the first wash and not a week or two later! HeeHee you guys know what I mean! A big big thank you again to Influenster for choosing me for this box, and I am really looking forward to the next review!

IMG_0105 2
After a good wash, my hair was super manageable for this bomb twist-out!

Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe to updates; let me know what you guys want to see, if there are products you want me to try first, or if you just want to say hello! Sending you good vibes and tons of sunshine in this cold weather  ✴︎

Heavenly Smells- Radha Beauty Product Review

Hi there!

When I returned from France I started to look for different elements in my home world that I found similar to my French experience and that was difficult. One aspect that I really missed from France was the smells. I saw flowers everywhere, lavender hanging on balconies, most women wore floral clean scents and the air always had a pleasant mystery about it. So. When I finally got back to the States I set out to find that same mystery; I perused social media and read tons of different blog posts, and then one day on Instagram, I came across Radha Beauty.

From the Site:

Radha Beauty is an innovative and luxurious skincare line that is committed to enhancing the natural beauty of every person on Mother Earth.

To the credit of the exceptional quality of our products, we quickly climbed the charts to become the Number One Selling Beauty and Essential Oil Brand on

Today, we are the leading authority in oils, carrier oils and essentials. Since our launch in 2014, we have gone on to Formulate different beauty collections to add to our catalog of stellar products.

  • Radha Beauty leads the industry in providing the highest-quality essential oils, carrier oils and oil blends on the market.
  • The Radha Beauty Skincare line is a mixture of active ingredients such as Vitamin C Serum, Retinol, and Hyaluronic Acid, with a natural botanical base of our purest oils.
  • Our newest line, Radha Organics, is an All Natural and Organic skincare line made only of essential oils, plant extracts and fruit and plant butters. This collection has no preservatives and is only made of ingredients that you can pronounce.
  • We also offer a selection of essential oil diffusers, bath bombs, and mud masks, among other products that are all aligned with our healthy lifestyle approach.

I purchased one of the most popular items, The 16 Piece Essential Oil Set. Luck smiled upon me again when I received 2 packages of the oil set for the price of one!! Okay, it was a mistake and they sent me twice as much as I ordered. When I realized the error, I emailed Radha Beauty support to let them know and to get information on how to return it, but they were so glad that I came forward, they let me keep the second oil kit!  As this rate, I’ll never run out. The support team was efficient and really cared about my experience; they even expressed their interest in hearing about how I like the products, and they seemed really genuine.

What’s inside/ First Impressions

The presentation is wonderful, and I could tell that Radha took her time to make it really special. If you look at the top of the cover, all of the essential oils come with a description and suggestion for use. This is really helpful because of anyone asks you what an oil is for, you can tell them facts like a pro. This is another well thought out detail that is not only effective but adds to the aesthetic of the packaging. The blue bottles are cute, and they have a use as well. To avoid deterioration and protect the aromatic and therapeutic properties of the essential oils, they are stored in amber or cobalt blue bottles. Dark glass such as amber or cobalt helps to keep out deteriorating sunlight. It is best not to store essential oils in clear glass bottles. (Thanks, Google).

When at home:

In my Rainmate Air Purifier, I add warm water and then 3-4 drops of my essential oil of choice and wait for the smell of the oil to permeate the room, which only takes about 10 seconds! You can buy any air purifier or diffuser and it’ll do the same job. My mom won the purifier in a raffle and gifted it to me, so that was a blessing.

My Favorite Oils/Uses

Geranium: This one might just be my number one go-to. I’m not usually one to like the smell of flowers, but the great thing about essential oils is that it captures the true essence of the flower. “The Geranium essential oil is steam distilled directly from the flower. It is known to help calm nerves and naturally relieves stress and depression. It is also known to alleviate the symptoms of menopause.” I like using this scent after a long day, or when I’m curling up to read a book.

Clary Sage: This has to be the most surprising of them all! The clary sage smells like a tea house, really subtle, but you can tell it has healing effects. “Clary Sage oil can boost self-esteem, confidence, hope and mental strength, thereby efficiently fighting depression.” Doesn’t that just sound like the medicine of the free world? It gets better. For all of it’s healing properties, the description doesn’t tell you one really MAJOR power that Clary Sage has: it cures menstrual cramps. Now I know what you’re thinking, okay, haha how can an oil cure excruciating pain? I went to the Radha website and pulled up a live chat session with a representative and asked what clary sage does, besides what’s on the box of course, and they let me know that if you take a few drops and spread them on the area right above your uterus, the oil should start working pretty quickly. So I tried it! Ladies, I am not kidding when I say it works w o n d e r s. I could feel the tingling warm sensation that the oil caused and my cramps were gone in about 5 minutes. 10/10 would recommend, especially if you’re trying to shy away from pills as an option to cure menstrual cramps.

Frankincense: Doesn’t that make you think of the bible when women would bathe in frankincense and mirth? This oil is mostly used when I want to clear my head and just breathe. Meditation, listening to music, pair this oil to your routine and all will be calm. “It is used to help relieve chronic stress and anxiety, reducing pain and inflammation, boosting immunity and even aids in fighting cancer.” I haven’t used it for chronic pain, but maybe to same rules as the clary sage apply here: put a few drops in the area of the pain and watch the magic happen.

Rosemary: Used only as an herb in my kitchen I didn’t even know that this was a thing. I’m finding that I really like it simply for the smell! “When inhaled, it can boost mental energy and it is also known to clear the respiratory tract.” As I write this post, this is my oil of choice that’s spinning in my diffuser. I have to embarrassingly admit that I’m taking deep breaths like a fiend; I can’t get enough of this smell!!

Lavender: For obvious reasons, this oil is on the list. I use the lavender oil in so many things, homemade body oil, in my hair, as a perfume, on my pillow to make sleeping easier, and of course in my purifier to make my room smell amazing and feel calm. “This oil is widely used for it’s calming and relaxing qualities and is perfect for aromatherapy, relaxation & massages.” This is a favorite among all of my friends when they come over for tea or just to hang out.

Tea Tree: Why wouldn’t this one be on the list? As a curly girl, I know the importance of tea tree in hair products, and I also know the danger. While this oil smells great and makes your hair thrive, too much of it will dry the skin out- and that means the scalp. I put this in my homemade body oil and I know immediately when I put too much because my skin instantly dries out! Still completely in love with it anyway. “Great for aromatherapy and home remedy use.” Tea Tree oil is great to put into your pre-poo or a deep conditioner.

Final Thoughts

It’s nice to know that there are still companies out there that are well rounded. Radha Beauty offers amazing products and a staff that match the quality of their products. I’m so pleased with my experience with Radha Beauty and I intend to buy more of their products which range from lotions to diffusers and cleansers- all natural. For now, I’ll just enjoy the many heavenly smells that my oil kit- or kits- has to offer.

Make sure you like and follow the blog if you enjoyed this post! Comment and let me know if you want to see any more product reviews, if you want to hear more about one of the essential oils you see in the kit or if you simply want to say hello! Wishing you ever calm and sunshine through and through.

Product Review: L’Oreal Extraordinary Clay

When you get a free product in the mail to try you hope and hope for good results and to like it enough to add it into your life. Read more to see my thoughts on the new L’oréal Extraordinary Clay products I received complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes!!

Hello there!! I love trying new products and suggesting things for my friends to try to make them fall in love with products I like, so I became an Influenster. It’s an amazing site where you submit reviews of products and try to influence others to buy them. You receive the products free/complimentary to test and all you have to do is post about it! Click the link if you’d like to do the same and let me know what you think!

This time, Influenster gave me the opportunity to try a new product line from L’Oréal hair: Extraordinary Clay. Disclaimer: I got these products complimentary and all opinions are my own.

As a natural haired girl, I was hesitant when Influenster sent me this product because it seemed pretty regular, just your average products. It says it’s for oily roots and dry ends to clarify and hydrate. Now, if anyone knows me, I loooove moisture, so for a product to say that targets oily anything, I’m on hyper-alert. As a natural haired girl, I know my hair carries oils that my hair needs to thrive, but if a product that isn’t designed to protect those oils is introduced to my hair, things will not go well! But these products were complimentary and I have tons of tricks up my sleeve to fix any hair problem, so I dove in!

Step 1: This was the pre-poo (a familiar term for us naturals) of the new Extraordinary Clay line from L’oréal! I loved it because it cleansed the scalp and was super creamy. It says to keep it on for 5 minutes, and apply only to the roots, but I kept it on for about 15 minutes because I know my roots had product buildup this wash-day. It didn’t dry my roots at all! My hair felt really healthy, my curls were still poppin and all the dirt and grime from previously used products were washed away. This was my favorite step in the new product line for sure. If you’re looking for a product to clear your roots and have this in hand, go for it.
Step 2: Shampoo. This is your average drugstore shampoo, there was nothing special about it at all. It reminded me why I stopped using any old product off of the shelf. I hated this shampoo for 3 reasons. 1. It stripped my hair of ALL oil and I could feel the difference immediately. Which is what the product is supposed to do, so technically I shouldn’t be mad. 2. The way my hair felt after I used this shampoo was just horrible. It felt like rubber, limp and lifeless. My hair had lost all of it’s elasticity and shine. 3. My curl pattern was lost completely. My hair at this point was in dire need of a deep conditioning treatment and I was so taken aback at the sudden change.

Step 3: Conditioner. Well, at this point I was trying to save my hair so I packed that shampoo onto my hair like my life depended on it! It’s your regular conditioner, nothing special. It had tons of slip and got the job done, but I was waiting for that wow factor that conditioners get in order to make me love it.. That never happened, but my hair did feel a little better.

Side Note: I followed this routine with my Mielle Organics products to save the day!

Overall: After all of the steps were used, my hair felt clean, yes but at what cost? 3/10 do not recommend to any natural haired beauties out there. As a girl with 4b curls hydration is essential, and this product line, just wasn’t for me. The first step was the best step for all the reasons I stated but mostly because it was the most hydrating. If you plan on buying anything in this line, the first step, the clay hair mask is the one to go with! I apologize for the lack of a personal picture of my hair; next time I won’t forget! If you have any questions about the line, or have any questions for me, comment, send me an email or follow me on any of my social media platforms and contact me there. Thanks for reading guys! More product reviews to come for sure!
