Event Recap: World Natural Hair Health & Beauty Show With @CamilleRoseNaturals in Atlanta, GA

Not so long ago I was contacted with the opportunity to join the team of Camille Rose Naturals at the World Natural Hair Health & Beauty Show . I love all natural hair and all things that encompass it; Camille Rose Naturals is an amazing brand so I knew it would be a great time!

Hey there,

I know it’s been a long time coming, but forgive me!! Let’s dive in. As seen on The Curly Hair Magazine, London.

Not so long ago I was contacted with the opportunity to join the team of Camille Rose Naturals at the World Natural Hair Health & Beauty Show . I love all natural hair and all things that encompass it; Camille Rose Naturals is an amazing brand so I knew it would be a great time!

The World Natural Hair Healthy Lifestyle Event started out 20 years ago started out as an empowering, energizing annual celebration of natural hair. 2o years later it has developed into a weekend long outlet for fun, music, and natural hair for all. “This event has grown over the years from 25 exhibit booths and 200 attendees to 250 exhibit booths and over 30,000 attendees.” And from the looks of it, they don’t intend to stop! It now features a ton of brands that showcase their products for sale at prices as low as 40% off and workshops for hair treatment and product use and styling and to empower educate and celebrate natural hair for women, children and men alike! Major Sponsors include Mielle Organics and Camille Rose Naturals!

I attended the Show on Sunday the 23rd and arrived there to meet the Camille Rose team at 9 am sharp. All of the ladies working had amazing curl-popping hair, and I was in heaven. The show started at 11 but there was already a line and we could all feel the excitement. No one but vendors in the event at time meant no-lines and more samples so some of the ladies went out to shop, but I wanted to take it all in.

Peep Janelle Stephens on the right with her and in her hair- promoting products, naturally!

Camille Rose Naturals  was started by Janelle Stephens- a mother and master mixologist who comes up with all the bomb products. She is a vegan, natural hair loving superwoman. She had such a kind spirit- and so humble too.

Working hard, selling harder!

It was such a good feeling to be around people who loved natural hair and truly healthy products as much as I did! The great thing about events like these is that you can NETWORK! It’s all about whom you know, and if you come as you are, you will attract people who what to hear about you and what you’re passionate about. I met so many amazing women, all who loves natural hair, loves Camille Rose and most of all, who wanted to learn. I was able to speak about my passions and what made me spark, and people could tell.

Thanks to my subscription to Cocotique, in the April box I was able to try the amazing products from the Taliah Waajid Shea Coco line. I. Am. Hooked.

Hey there!

Thanks to my subscription to Cocotique, in the April box I was able to try the amazing products from the Taliah Waajid Shea Coco line. These products have: Naturally Inspired Ingredients | Intense Moisture | Infused Natural Oils | Herbal Extracts. Ends dry dull lifeless hair. Revitalizes your hair to define your Natural Curl Pattern giving you soft luscious curls with no build up. Mends Breakage and Strengthens. (from the website). Most times when I use a new product I hardly ever follow the directions, but this time guys, I promise I did!

IMG_0177
6 Full Sized products for $20! A $55 Value.

Step 1 & 2: SHEA-COCO DETOX SHAMPOO & MOISTURE MADNESS MASQUE ($3.99)

shea-coco-detox-shampoo-moisture-madness-masque-51141-b11 When I first started out with the product line, my hair had a lot of product build up- I’m currently obsessed with braid-outs and leave in conditioner- so this was just what I needed. The detox shampoo is not what I expected at all. I didn’t fully read the label when I opened it, so when it came out black, I was a little taken aback. The shampoo has two really effective ingredients: tea tree and activated charcoal. Woo! Let me tell you I could feel it working! I pre-pooed my hair so it was in twists. I followed the instructions and concentrated on my scalp and man, did it work! Squeaky clean and feeling really healthy. I then followed with the Moisture Madness Masque; the directions specifically stated to go from the bottom of the hair shaft up to just before the root, which seemed odd at first but then I remembered that I just cleared all the product from my scalp and my pores were wide open- no need to clog them up with product again. I kept the mask on for an hour (suggested 15-25 minutes) yes I know I said I’d follow the directions but it was hair masque!! You know how us naturals get! So after an hour, I washed it out. My hair felt pretty amazing, I mean I don’t even know how to describe it; I’ve never had a product that made my hair feel this good. I feel like I say this a lot, but this is better than all the rest, I promise.

Step 3: Condition ($9.99)

TW condition

After the wash, I followed with the third step, the leave in conditioner. I always appreciate a good leave-in, especially when there is a good applicator in place: this spray bottle! I liked how the conditioner came out thick but not heavy. All of the products in this line have a subtle smell which makes good for mixing products and not becoming overwhelmed with the smell. The conditioner smoothed into my hair really well! I wish I could upload the video for you guys to see the whole process, but I couldn’t find a way to get it done 😦

Step 4: Monoi oil ($9.99)

TW monoi oil

As is known with the L.O.C method (Leave-in. Oil. Creme) I followed the leave-in with the oil provided in my cocotique box, the Monoi oil. This my first encounter with Monoi oil. It has the visual color of castor oil and consistency of olive oil. Benefits? From the website: “Taliah Waajid’s Monoi Oil is an all-natural serum that mends split ends and helps reverse damage to the hair. Monoi Oil also is great for adding shine and eliminating frizz.” It did help eliminate frizz for sure, and this product can be used for hot oil treatments as well along with as a skin moisturizer including feet and nails for a soft finish. Like castor oil! Again, the smell of this serum is very subtle and pleasing.

Step 5: Natural Hair Style Cream for 3C-4C Hair ($9.99)

TW style cream

Last step! My hair is 4B so I liked how it was tailored for those in my range, almost personalized. I went through with this product and used the praying hands method: putting a quarter sized amount in my palms, I rubbed them together and put my hair between my hands and smoothed the product down my hair shaft. After that I followed with a little more mononi oil for shine and extra coverage. I braided my hair (current braid-out obsession here) and let it dry over night! I took the braids down the next morning by putting some mononi oil in my hands and unbraiding, then fluffing with a pick.

Results: IMG_0333

Side note: I’m one who likes volume over definition; there was no grief lost here. Over the days my hair did get bigger, which is always my goal!

Overall: I was surprised how well each product did its job, but also how well it worked with my hair. It’s rare to find a company that has great product AND a smell that doesn’t overpower the senses. Taliah Waajid, you are a genious woman!! Also the World Natural Hair Show this past weekend was amazing, I loved every second! (Stay tuned for a blog post on my experience!) The Shea Cocoa line was a good choice for the April Cocotique box, and the products were all full sized, they had to put it in a bigger box!! I didn’t get to try the cowash or the curl cream for 3B-4B hair, but I’m going to give it a try soon and write a blog post on that as well, soon hopefully! If you guys want to take advantage of this $20 deal and try these products out too, click Cocotique to purchase this box! I have half a mind to purchase another one myself, this offer is too good to pass up!!

Thank you guys for reading! Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog, let me know what you guys want to see, what you thought of the post, or if you just want to say hi! Drugstore Dream : Tresemme Keratin Smooth Review

Hi there everyone!

If you don’t know already, I am an Influenster, which means that I do product reviews for different things ranging from clothing brands, beauty products, and food. As I release reviews, the company matches me up with boxes for products that give me a new opportunity to try new products. All thoughts are my own.

This month, I got the opportunity to try the new Tresemmé Keratin Smooth shampoo and conditioner for free. This particular box was sponsored by Tresemmé, Kroger (a supermarket based in the south USA), and Influenster. Both the shampoo and conditioner were full-sized, and came in this fun box, I love how they always put wrapping paper around the products! Makes it feel like a gift! Here’s what the packaging looked like:

IMG_0314                               IMG_0317

If you guys like what you hear about the products, I’ve inserted hyperlinks all though the post so you can buy it and try it for yourself!

So, the Keratin Smooth line is a 5 benefit in 1 system deal: anti frizz, perfectly detangles (according to the bottle), silky shine, soft feel, and tames fly aways. Now as a natural curly girl, you guys know I’m always looking for any product that makes wash day easier. Before I got on the natural product wave, I did use Tresmmé during wash days to shampoo, but had since eliminated it because the sulfate in it was drying out my hair. After that I stayed way clear of Tresemmé, but decided to give it another shot. Because the bottles say that they smooth hair and I had heard horror a few horror stories before of curly girls getting keratin protein treatments and coming out with straight hair, I was apprehensive, but these products proved me wrong.

IMG_0320Shampoo: The shampoo was definitely shocking. This was the first time I had used a shampoo that wasn’t from a natural brand and liked what I saw. My hair was loving the feeling of that keratin protein treatment, it was shiny after one wash and seemed like it had a healthy bounce to it. My hair seemed manageable.  You can find this shampoo at any drugstore, Kroger or Walmart for less than $5!

IMG_0319

Conditioner: Wow. I mean, just when I thought that the shampoo was a surprise, in comes the conditioner making magic! It definitely left my hair feeling soft and smooth, and the shine was clear to see. So remember when I said that it “perfectly detangles?” Guys, this claim was no joke. I mean, how is it that my hair retained curl-tension (coining thattt) and my fingers ran through my hair as easy as it did? The researchers at Tresemmé need to let me know how they did it, because YAS I am here for it! Honestly and truly, if you’re balling on a budget and just need something quick to do a co-wash head to a drugstore, Kroger or your nearest Walmart and pick up this conditioner, especially if it’s less than $5!!

Final Thoughts: I’m glad that Tresemmé came out with a shampoo and conditioner that allowed me to immediately see the results that it claims after the first wash and not a week or two later! HeeHee you guys know what I mean! A big big thank you again to Influenster for choosing me for this box, and I am really looking forward to the next review!

Moisture Redefined: tgin Review

Hi there!

FTC: This post is not sponsored, but does contain affiliate links. All thoughts are my own.

With Winter upon us, or for those of us in the South USA, Summer/Spring, how do our tresses keep up with it all? The temperature is constantly changing, it’s hot, now it’s cold; it’s freezing one minute and too hot to wear pants in the next! What a miracle that our hair doesn’t just give up and fall off our heads! Thankfully, that crown we wear is strong enough for all of us. Even so, we all are made with that instinct to know when enough is enough, and that’s where tgin comes in.

tgin-logo

What does tgin even mean? tgin stands for “Thank God it’s NATURAL” a brand that lives up to it’s name and keeps customers running back to stores for more, their products are revered and loved all throughout the Natural Hair community.  They have been featured on many lists that include “Best Deep Conditioner” and the list goes on and on.

I first heard about tgin while perusing Youtube looking for a bomb twistout routine, and fell upon a video from NaturallyNeiicy. I decided to look further into the product and all I could find were good things, and decided I had to have it! Now, as a college student, and for all the students out there, times can get tough, and for a product junkie like myself, how can I keep up with all the hype?

One word: G I V E A W A Y!!!

Thanks to @frogirlginny and an amazing Holiday giveaway, I became the proud owner of three products from the tgin line. (follow her on all social media outlets, btw. she’s amazing!!) Natural ladies and gents, when in doubt to enter a contest of any kind, do not hesitate, just do! I’ve gotten pretty lucky so far! I’ll be sending good vibes your way through it all. I also got another product for Christmas so that will be featured in this review as well.

Honey Miracle Hair Mask – with Raw Honey + Olive oil

tgin-mask

First impressions: The packaging is pleasing to the eye, but not too crazy, so it caught my attention. Anything that says “Miracle” will have me doing a double take because I’m always on the lookout for the next great hair marvel. It smells amazing, the jojoba and honey in the mix truly influence the smell and I was instantly in heaven!

The product is THICK, and when you’re looking for a deep conditioner, trust and believe that consistency is key. My hair is very thick- in the 4b range along with some varying curl patterns, so I was really excited about it. I washed my hair as usual with the OGX Biotin & Collagen shampoo for clarity and bounce, and then followed with the same line of conditioner. My hair was then separated into sections and the fun began here! The directions say to “wash hair and then apply the product liberally to damp hair, raking the product through with a comb to ensure that it’s distributed evenly. ” Then either cover the hair with a plastic wrap and sit under the dryer for 15 minutes, or leave on a plastic cap and sit with product for 35 min – 1 hr. Sadly I don’t own a hooded dryer just yet, so I opted for the hour treatment instead and did some chores and studied for a bit. After 1 hour I washed it out, my hair was moist, the curls had defintion, my hair had a healthy shine, and it smelled so yummy- which is always important.

Price : $14.99

Twist & Define Cream – With Coconut oil + Vitamin E

tgin-twist

First Impressions- Again, consistency is key, and let me tell you this is just the right amount of oil and creme. It has a lot of slip, it smells like the hair mask, but different,  kinda like a good dessert. There are some elements in this product not found in the other which is good for variety. I like the amount of moisture that it clearly has, and I’m looking forward to the results.

After detangling, I skipped the leave-in step because it seemed like this product had more than enough moisture to go around, and I was right! As soon as it touched my hair my curls went lax, and then sprung to life! I wish this was an over exaggeration, but these are just facts! I was really excited to see the magic happen that quickly, which was satisfying. After applying the product in sections, I twisted the hair in order to keep it contained for the day, and the package does suggest to let the hair dry. After a day, my hair had a good feel to it, it felt almost as if I had applied a gel to it after the define cream.

Price: $14.99

Butter Cream Moisturizer – With Shea Butter + Vitamin E

tgin-butter

First Impressions- I’m not one who lies to repeat myself, but sheesh! The consistency of this product is what every curly girl wants. If you can think of a hair lotion packed with moisture, that holds firm, but smoothes on contact, this is the one. Of course it smells amazing, but the best part was how it loosened my hair.

Other than the three products that I used from the moisture line of tgin, I used my Mielle Organics Mint Almond Oil for my scalp and to spritz around the hair. Remember how I said my twisted hair felt like gel had been applied to it? The Cream Moisturizer  loosened the twists on contact and pumped hydration and moisture into the hair and allowed untwisting to be easier and made the hair shine even more. I even applied some to the hair at the roots to liven it up!

Price: $14.99

Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum

tgin-serum

First Impressions: I really like the size of the bottle, it makes me comfortable to bring it when I travel or just to leave on the counter without cluttering space. The only thing I’m not thrilled about is the dripping effect- so the bottle does let off a bit of oil if you move it around or even just leave it on it’s side for too long.. which then changes my mind about bringing it to travel. I would have put a cone nozzle on the top instead of the standard lotion head.

This product was given to me as a gift by my lovely sister, not part of the giveaway that I won on Instagram. I use the serum when I want to give my hair some oil before a twist-out, I use it on my body right after I get out of the shower and my body is still a bit damp to lock in moisture. It smells really different, and I think that’s the hibiscus flower at the bottom of the bottle acting with the argan oil. I like that it’s lightweight and smells more natural than perfumed.

Price: 14.99

The Twist-Out

I used the Argan oil serum in my hands to help loosen the hair and make it easier to untwist and combat frizz. The cream moisturizer was also used in order to add a bit more moisture.

 Final Words

In all, I thoroughly enjoyed this product line ! It really locks in moisture, my hair retains length, and I feel like my hair is healthy and feels good to the touch, (literally it’s so soft) but not in a bad way that it’s dripping in product. My favorite products have to be the Tist and Define Cream and  You can find tgin products at Sally’s, Target, CVS, and online through their website!

Sending another big big thank you to  @frogirlginny for the chance to try these products and a big thank to tgin for making amazing products!

Let me know what else you guys want to see, product reviews, hair products, things of that nature. Or comment and let me know what you think! Peace, love and wishing you many days of flourishing hair!
